Airport Vicinity Land Use Analysis and Management Software - AvGIS

The primary function of this web based AvGIS Software is to assist airport operators, regulators, private land developers and municipal planners to identify airport related land use constraints in the vicinity of and on airport lands. AvGIS provides a single all-encompassing web-based query and analysis tool to assess any position and to identify all related aeronautical restrictions including amongst others:

  • Operational Obstacle Limitation Surfaces
  • Airport Zoning Regulation Obstacle Limitation Surfaces
  • Operational and Airport Zoning Regulation Electronic Zoning
  • Bird Hazards Zones
  • Airport Noise Exposure Forecast Contours
  • ATC Sightlines
  • Instrument Approach Obstacle Clearance Surfaces
  • Airport Land Use Designations (Airport Land Use Plan)
  • Airport Master Plan Features (Existing and Future)

AvGIS simplifies the complex interpretation of the above noted aeronautical features by having the User simply enter a location; this can be done via a pointing & clicking on an interactive map; specifying coordinates; or by entering a street address.  The rest of the analysis is fully automated including the preparation of report which includes a key map and summary of all identified constraints.  AvGIS ensures a quick and efficient means to assess land use proposals which will ensure the safe operation of aircraft around and within the airport. Early identification of possible impacts provides better a chance of mitigation before it is too late.  For airport operators, AvGIS supports the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment processes required by mandated airport Safety Management System (SMS) programs.

Aside from airport operations staff and planners, other potential AvGIS users include: municipal development officers, regulatory bodies, land developers and the general public.
