December 2008 - the Fort McMurray Regional Airport Commission approved an ambitious Development Plan for the airport. Phase 1 of the Plan includes the construction of a new 8,000 m2 air terminal building and associated airside and landside infrastructure. In addition to providing overall project management functions, Pryde Schropp McComb Inc. is currently undertaking the detail design of various civil works associated with Phase 1. This includes taxiways, aprons, de-icing facilities, landside parking and access roads, and site services.
November 2008: PSMI would like to welcome Carp Airport, Pembroke Airport and Geraldton & Nakina Airports to the SMS project consortium. PSMI is now working with 28 Airports across Canada on Safety Management Systems.
November 2008: PSMI has been selected by Gander International Airport Authority to implement Safety Management Systems Gander, one of ten airports along with Toronto Pearson International Airport that is required to implement SMS one year ahead of all other certified airports in Canada. PSMI will be developing Phases Two to Four of the SMS program including the preparation of all Manuals and Training programs for the Gander Team.
October 2008: PSMI adds three more Airports in Western Canada to its Safety Management Systems team. Gillam ,Manitoba, Swan River, Manitoba and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan select PSMI to implement their Safety Management Systems. Including other recent additions, PSMI is now working with 22 airports across Canada on Safety Management Systems.
September 2008: PSMI’s Safety Management Systems consulting service expands to Western Canada. PSMI has been selected by three airports in Albert to lead the development of their SMS program; Lethbridge, Lloydminster and Grand Prairie. We look ahead to helping these sites prepare the appropriate documentation and training programs to successfully implement the SMS program.
September 2008: PSMI’s Safety Management Systems consulting service expands to the Maritimes. PSMI has been selected by Churchill Falls Newfoundland to implement their SMS program. We look forward to working with Nelson and his team.
August 2008: Windsor International Airport and Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport select PSMI for Safety Management Systems. Building on the success of the recent Request for Proposal in Ontario, Windsor International Airport and Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport have selected PSMI to implement the Safety Management System at their Airports.
August 2008:- Pryde Schropp McComb Inc. opens new Kitchener, Ontario office.
June 2008: PSMI awarded contract for Safety Management Systems (SMS) consulting. A consortium of 12 regional and local airports throughout Ontario joined forces and issued a Request for Proposals for the completion of a SMS program at their airports. PSMI was the successful firm selected from the 8 respondents to the RFP. This project includes guiding our clients through all Four Phases of the SMS program.
April 2008: Pryde Schropp McComb Inc. has been retained for the preliminary design and master development plan of a 4,500 ft airstrip on the secluded resort island of Salt Cay within the Turks and Caicos Islands. This $15 million project will be constructed in early 2009 as part of the first phase of development for the island.
March 2008: As part of the Federal ACAP program, Pryde Schropp McComb Inc. will provide airport civil and electrical engineering design and resident services for the Fort St. John Regional Airport - Rehabilitation of Taxiway Alpha, Bravo, and Apron project. This $5 million project will be constructed in the summer of 2008.
March 2008: Construction on Pryde Schropp McComb Inc. design of a 5700 ft airstrip in Turks and Caicos is nearing completion with a grand opening planned for spring 2008. The aerodrome includes a fully illuminated 5700 ft asphalt strip in which 2500 ft extends into the Caribbean Sea. This is the largest private jet strip of its kind in the Caribbean.
February 22, 2008: Transport Canada announced the allocation of funding for the 2008 / 2009 fiscal year for the Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP). Of the 49 projects announced for ACAP funding, Pryde Schropp McComb Inc. are involved in 10 of the projects, totaling over $15 million in approved funding. This represents 41% of the ACAP funding announced for this upcoming fiscal year for all of Canada. Since the announcement of the ACAP program in 1995, Pryde Schropp McComb Inc. has been involved in obtaining approval of over 200 projects with a value in excess of $200 million.
