November 30, 2005 - Boundary Bay Airport – PSMI was hired by Alpha Aviation Inc., the operator of the Boundary Bay Airport, to complete a project that involved the engineering design and construction of a 650m (2,100ft.) extension of the existing Runway 07-25. The runway extension project is part of the overall airport development plan that is being completed by Alpha Aviation Inc. to make way for the 2010 Olympic Games that will be held in the Vancouver Area. The $1.8 million project involved planning, design, and construction, completed by PSMI, alongside geotechnical consultant Trow Associates.
October 27, 2005 - PSMI presents study to Regina International Airport which links long term City of Regina population forecasts to future air traffic growth and needs at Regina. Airfield capacity and runway expansion were reviewed and an updated Noise Exposure Projection to 2024 was proposed including recommendations that the City recognized the 30 NEF as the limit above which no new residential development be approved. October 14, 2005 - Senator Joyce Fairbairn, on behalf of Transport Minister Jean-C. Lapierre, today officiated at a ceremony to mark the completion of a $3,574,174 safety improvement project at Lethbridge County Airport, funded under the Government of Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program. PSMI completed all planning, design, engineering and project management for this project which was completed ahead of schedule and under budget. October 11, 2005 - PSMI was hired by the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport Authority (OMCIAA) to conduct a complete Airfield Guidance Sign Inventory and Assessment study at the Ottawa International Airport. The scope of this project includes a precision GPS survey, photographic inventory of every sign, condition assessment, replacement options and a comprehensive GIS enabled database of airfield signs.
October 7, 2005 - Runway 01-19 at Abbotsford International Airport re-opened following completion of a full rehabilitation. The project involved Hot in Place Recycling of the existing asphalt and placement of a new asphalt overlay. This $3.5million project was delivered on schedule and 20% under budget.
October 2005 - During the summer of 2005, Transport Canada announced funding for over $3.0 million. During October the reconstruction of Runway 11/29, Taxiway A and portions of the Main Apron of the Dryden Airport were completed. September 21, 2005 - A $2.2 million reconstruction project of the secondary runway of the Sudbury Airport, was completed. The detailed Plan of Construction Operations prepared by PSMI ensured that the Airport remained fully operational during the course of the construction project.
September 1, 2005 - On Thursday, September 1, 2005, Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) celebrated the official opening of the Horizon Oil Sands Project Aerodrome. A Canadian North Boeing 737 landed on the Horizon airstrip to mark a new era in transporting oil sands mega-project workers to and from the region, alleviating highway traffic and decreasing travel time for workers. PSMI completed all planning, design, engineering and project management for this $10million project which was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
April 7, 2005 - Transport Canada announced funding for 61 projects across Canada. The total funding announcement was $51 million. PSMI assisted a 16 of the Airports that were successful in receiving ACAP funding of $16.3 million for projects worth over $18.5 million.
Excluding projects in the Territories and equipment applications, PSMI was responsible for projects receiving 78% of the ACAP funding announced by Transport Canada for 2005. Click here for a listing of PSMI's 2005 ACAP Projects.

February 28, 2005 - As part of their $10.7 billion Horizon Oil Sands development project, Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. has awarded the design-build contract of a new $10 million aerodrome to a consortium which includes PSMI as the prime engineering consultant. This project which is expected to be completed in August 2005 includes the construction of a paved 6000x150 foot runway, Air Terminal Building, parking apron, glycol collection, automated weather equipment, GPS instrument approach, and full airfield lighting system. The system will be designed to accommodate simultaneous Boeing 737-600 operations.
PSMI is completing all planning, design, engineering, project management, and construction management of this project. Geotechnical, quality management and materials testing sub-consultant services is being provided by Trow Associates of Vancouver, BC.
