June 2010: The Greater Sudbury Airport has selected Pryde Schropp McComb, Inc. to assist the Airport in developing a Reduced Visibility Operations Plan (RVOP). This important effort will develop procedures that will allow departure operations and taxiing after landing when the visibility is below RVR2600 down to RVR1200 at the Airport. The work includes the creation of a RVOP as well as amendments to the Canada Flight Supplement, Airport Operations Manual and other affected airport plans and procedures. An optional RVOP training program has also been proposed as part of this project.

June 2010: Southport Aerospace Centre Inc. has selected Pryde Schropp McComb, Inc. to complete planning and design for the rehabilitation of Taxiway Delta at Portage La Prairie/Southport Airport. This important project will include a pavement assessment and subdrain inspection of the 24 metre by 1,585 metre taxiway that interconnects the threshold of Runway 31L to Runway 01-19. Based on the results of this work, a full rehabilitation design and tender package will be completed with construction planned in 2011. This marks the seventh project PSMI has been a part of in the last seven (7) years at Portage La Prairie/Southport.

June 2010: Pryde Schropp McComb, Inc. has been selected by the Greater Sudbury Airport to develop an updated Airport Land Use Plan. The Land Use Plan will guide future development at the Airport in an efficient and cost effective manner, while recognizing the Airport’s strategic operational and business objectives. The scope of the project includes a review of: Airside protective zoning requirements; availability of utilities and services; enhancement of revenue opportunities; appropriate size and mix of commercial lot development; appropriate mix of aviation and non-aviation commercial development; and proposed phasing of future development.

June 2010: Pryde Schropp McComb, Inc. is pleased to announce that Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport has selected PSMI’s ALFA Airport Billing Software to replace their existing billing system. The airport will undertake the implementation process during the third quarter of 2010. ALFA will be used to centrally generate aeronautical billing for this fast growing airport and will be interfaced with the Toronto Port Authority's Microsoft Dynamics Financial Management System.

May 2010: The Thompson Regional Airport Authority (TRAA) and PSMI will be teaming up again in 2010 to complete the second phase of Taxiway Echo construction at the Thompson Regional Airport. In 2009 PSMI provided engineering services for the site grading scope related to the taxiway construction. In 2010 PSMI will continue to provide engineering services for construction of the pavement structure and drainage piping. With the TRAA waiting on an application for funding to undertake a major rehabilitation of Runway 06-24 in 2010 and the runway currently having only one taxi route to the northfield, the TRAA plans for Taxiway Echo will ensure an alternative route to the northfield to maintain a safe operating environment during construction. The project is scheduled for completion by August.

April 2010: Pryde Schropp McComb Inc. (PSMI) has been retained by the Saskatoon Airport Authority to undertake a land use study which will examine potential land development opportunities associated with Aprons VI and VII at Saskatoon International Airport. The Airport has seen a high level of interest in development at the Airport due to their continued growth. As part of the study PSMI will identify key requirements and strategic operational/business objectives that will guide the preparation of land use concepts.

April 2010: North Peace Airport Services has selected PSMI to complete an asset management plan for the existing water distribution system located at the North Peace Regional Airport. The project will produce an inventory of all the water distribution system assets including prioritization of the cost of rehabilitation and replacement of the entire system’s assets. PSMI will also be in charge of preparing a financial recovery plan for replacing the various assets of the distribution system.

April 2010: The Regina Airport Authority has selected PSMI to complete the design, tendering, and construction management of the Runway 08-26 and 13-31 Restoration at the Regina International Airport. The project scope also includes the expansion of Apron 1 concrete surfaces by approximately 9,000 m2, including the associated extension of the de-icing facility and electrical works to accommodate additional aircraft parking. The Restoration of both YQR Runways 08-26 (6,200ft) and 13-31 (7,900ft) will involve a series of carefully planned construction sequencing plans in order to minimize disruption to airport operations. It is anticipated that the rehabilitation of the Runway 13-31 pavement surfaces and Apron 1 expansion will be completed in the summer of 2011, followed by the restoration of Runway 08-26 in 2012.

March 2010: The Grande Prairie Airport has selected PSMI to complete the design, tendering and construction management of the overhead signage and street lighting installation as part of an overall visual aids modernization program at the airport. The proposed street lighting would be installed along Range Road 63 (Airport Road) beginning from at the intersection of Highway 43 and continuing north for roughly one kilometer to the entrance of the Terminal ring road. It is anticipated that 3 illuminated overhead directional signs and approximately 25 street lights will be installed and strategically positioned under the Obstacle Limitation Surface of Runway 30. Tendering is expected to be set for May/June, with Construction in the summer of 2010.

February 2010: Pryde Schropp McComb, Inc. is pleased to announce that Gander International Airport has selected PSMI’s ALFA Airport Billing Software to replace their existing billing system. Implementation and training for all three ALFA modules is scheduled for Q1 2010. ALFA will be used to generate both aeronautical and non-aeronautical billing. Data from ALFA will be interfaced with the airport's Sage BusinessVision Accounting software.

January 2010: Pryde Schropp McComb, Inc. is pleased to announce that Edmonton Airports has selected PSMI’s ALFA Airport Billing Software to replace their existing billing system. Edmonton Airports will undertake the implementation process during the first quarter of 2010 making them our 30th Canadian installation. ALFA will be used to centrally generate aeronautical and non-aeronautical billing for multiple airports sites with data from ALFA being interfaced with the airport's SunSystems Financial Management System.

December 2009: Pryde Schropp McComb, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Fredericton International Airport Authority has joined the ALFA family making it our 29th Canadian ALFA customer. Fredericton's implementation is still underway and is planned to go live January 2010. The first module to be deployed will be the ReCharge module for recurring non-aeronautical revenue billing. The AvCharge module will be next to be deployed to automate the generation of aeronautical invoicing at the airport. Data from ALFA will be interfaced with the airport's Simply accounting software. November 2009: Pryde Schropp McComb, Inc. is pleased to announce that the North Bay Jack Garland Airport has joined the ever growing family of ALFA users. During the past few months airport staff working with PSMI support implemented ALFA, underwent user training and validated the system. ALFA went live at North Bay November 1st, replacing their previous billing system that was ageing and no longer supported. Using ALFA's AvCharges for aeronautical billing and ReCharges for non-aeronautical revenue, North Bay will be able to efficiently process monthly invoicing with the most accurate data possible.

November 2009: The Oshawa Municipal Airport selects PSMI for multiple airfield projects including the rehabilitation of Runway 04-22 and various airfield lighting projects. The Runway 04-22 rehabilitation project consists of approximately 24,000 sq.m of asphalt rehabilitation, is currently under construction, and is on schedule for completion by the end of November 2009. The airfield lighting projects consist of design and installation of solar powered taxiway edgelighting, relocation and installation of airfield guidance signs, RIL replacements and PAPI upgrades. PSMI has also been selected to design and coordinate with NAV CANADA the installation of a new Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) at the Airport. Construction of the airfield lighting and AWOS projects are planned for winter 2009 / spring 2010. These projects have been made possible through funding from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

October 2009: The Fort McMurray Regional Airport is undergoing a $110 million expansion and redevelopment, which will include the construction of a new Air Terminal Building, Apron, Connecting Taxiways and Site Services. In addition to PSMI’s involvement in the planning, design and construction of these facilities, PSMI is also responsible for the first stage of this major development which involves the preloading of structural fill to prepare the underlying soils for the construction of the new Air Terminal Building and Elevated Departures Ramp in the Spring of 2010. The Pre-Servicing project includes the removal of approximately 60,000 m3 of muskeg and reinstatement of approximately 150,000 m3 of structural fill, all of which will be harvested from on-site resources while shaping the terrain for the future airside facilities. Settlement monitoring gauges have also been installed in preparation of the ATB construction to assess and record the settlement of the structural fill preload. The Pre-Servicing construction for the ATB and Departures Ramp is expected to be completed by end of October, 2009.

October 2009: Pryde Schropp McComb, Inc. is pleased to have two of their international projects featured in the September/October 2009 issue of ReNew Canada. The special insert: Canadians at Work: 50 International Infrastructure Projects highlights PSMI’s work in both the Turks and Caicos and the Sultanate of Oman. PSMI is providing project management and airfield design services with the support of of a number of key sub-consultants including Scott Architects Associates Inc. (Air Terminal Building/Cargo Buildings), Avi Eng (Aircraft Fuel Systems) and Peto MacCallum Limited (Pavement Design).

October 2009: Pryde Schropp McComb has completed the $8 Million Airside Pavement Rehabilitation project at the North Bay Jack Garland Airport. PSMI was responsible for the planning, design and construction of the rehabilitation of Runway 08-26, and Taxiways Lima, Hotel, Juliet and Echo, representing over 225,000 m2 of airside pavement. The project also involved the electrical works associated with narrowing Runway 08-26 and Taxiway Lima, as well the installation of Runway Guard Lights and new Airside Guidance Signs. The project will not only ensure the continued safe operation of the Airport but will also ensure that adequate facilities are available to serve the anticipated aircraft mix during the G8 Summit in Huntsville, Ontario in the summer of 2010.

Funding for these projects was secured through the Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP) which included a contribution from the Federal Government under the G8 Legacy Infrastructure fund. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.

September 2009: As part of the Saskatoon Airport Authority's (SAA) ongoing expansion plans, PSMI will be in charge of planning, design, and construction of a new aircraft de-icing facility. The project will include a pavement expansion of approximately 25,000 sq. m. of new concrete with three new de-icing pads to service the operational requirements of the Airport. The de-icing system will be fully contained to ensure the highest environmental standards are being met. PSMI has already completed a planning study for the new expanded facility. Detailed design is currently underway and construction is slated to commence early in the Spring of 2010.

August 2009: The Fort McMurray Airport Commission has awarded the first contract for the $110 million expansion of the Fort McMurray Airport. The project will involve a new 9000 m² Passenger Terminal Building complete with two passenger loading bridges, new apron and connecting taxiways. Access to the new terminal building will be from the South side of the airport via a new access road and carpark. Part of the Phase 2 expansion plans involve the construction of a new parallel runway. The first project awarded was for the Pre-Servicing contract and is now under construction. Terminal building construction will commence in the spring of 2010. Planned occupancy of the new terminal building is the spring of 2012.

 

July 2009: Pryde Schropp McComb, Inc. launches new website.  The re-engineered web site will better serve our existing clientele and create a more dynamic and informative portal for public access.  Features include access to past projects and information about PSMI's Products and Services.

July 2009: St. John’s International Airport Authority appoints PSMI to conduct a review of airfield improvement and expansion requirements to achieve CAT III operations. This work is a continuation of the Airport Authority’s goal to improve safety and airport accessibility. St. John’s has invested close to $15 million since 2007 in upgrading and installing infrastructure in a phased approach to improve low visibility operations and ultimately achieve CAT IIIa compliance. The results of PSMI’s work will be used in a business case development being completed concurrently by Jacobs Consultancy.

June 2009: Lake Simcoe Regional Airport Commission appoints PSMI to act as Project Manager for a $15million airport improvement and expansion program. The projects include a runway extension, runway rehabilitation, apron expansion, commercial development lots and servicing, Air Terminal Building expansion and other related airfield and groundside projects. The program is schedule to be completed over the period of 2009 through March 2011. Funding for these projects was secured by the City of Barrie through the Infrastructure Stimulus Funding (ISF) program.

May 2009: PSMI is pleased to welcome North Bay Jack Garland Airport to its expanding network of ALFA Users. The installation will include the aeronautical and lease management modules along with integration with the City of North Bay’s municipal government accounting system. Implementation and commissioning of the system is expected to be completed in the 3rd quarter of 2009. ALFA is a powerful airport billing software solution designed to balance ease of use with the flexibility required by airports of all sizes to invoice customers, examine airport traffic, manage lease and concession revenue.

April 2009: Regina Airport Authority Inc. selects PSMI to complete the design and construction supervision of PAPI and Guard Lights as part of an overall visual aids modernization program at the airport. Construction and commissioning is expected to be completed in the summer of 2009.

February 2009: The London International Airport selects Pryde Schropp McComb Inc. (PSMI) to implement the Safety Management Systems (SMS) program; PSMI is now working with 47 airports on SMS. PSMI is working closely with each of our clients to ensure the appropriate policies, procedures and training are in place to fulfill Transport Canada requirements. PSMI has the team and resources to add new clients to our SMS program.
